Online Study on the Influences of Virtual Space on Time Perception

Thank you very much for your interest in our study.

Before moving forward, we would like to describe its contents, objectives, and procedure. We will ask for your consent to proceed. You are free to end this session at any time without needing to provide a reason.

 

Study Objectives

The objective of this study is to test the influence of a virtual space on the subjective experience of time. You will see short videos of the virtual environment, a tunnel, in motion. After each video we will ask you questions about your experience. 

Please read the data policy provided below. Before starting you will also be requested to provide demographic and health-related data.

This study takes around 25 minutes to complete.

Information on Data Storage
This online study is conducted anonymously, which guarantees that the data will be stored and processed anonymously as well. The collected data will be stored digitally and protected with a password. After 10 years all personal data will be deleted as required by law.

Information on Data Usage
The anonymous data collected in this study will be used in the context of the VIRTUALTIMES project to inform the development of a virtual environment for the diagnosis and treatment of psychopathology. The results will be disseminated in academic publications and at conferences and other events. The data may also be used in the context of future studies. Anonymous participation guarantees that the data collected will not be connected to your identity.

Which Data is Collected and Analyzed?
You will be asked to provide demographic data (e.g. age, sex, level of education, mother tongue, knowledge of English language). You will not be asked to provide personal data that could be connected directly to your identity—such as your name. You will also be asked to provide data related to your subjective experience of the virtual spaces presented.

Withdrawal from the Study
You have the right to end your participation in this online study at any time without needing to provide a reason. Once the study is completed, it is not possible to withdraw your data, since these are collected anonymously and can therefore not be connected to your person. Deleting the data is not possible for the same reason.
